update....

Hunter came home from school on Friday with a "I Voted" sticker. So I asked if they voted at school. Hunter said that they had a pretend vote so the kids could cast a vote for who they would like to see become President. Then I asked,"Who did you vote for?" Drum roll please.............. Hunter said,"I went with the independent guy." What?! He never even mentioned the independent guy at all. I asked why he voted for him to which he replied,"I wanted to be different." I then bent down so we were face to face and said,"That is why children don't get to vote."

Hopefully, after Tuesday, the next president will be picked and he won't bug me again for another four years.

P.S. When I asked Hayden who he voted for he said,"I didn't get to vote. I got in trouble. I said the elephant sucks." Oh Hayden, can't you ever control your mouth. It just goes to show that children do not have freedom of speech.

Who To Vote For?

This school year all Hunter can talk about is who is running for president. He will come home from school telling me different facts about each of them. Most of the time the things he says are completely untrue. Like one day we had about six boys in the house and I could hear them going back and forth.
-"Obama doesn't believe in the same God as us."
-"McCain wants to raise taxes"
-"Obama thinks it's OK to murder people"
-"No, McCain thinks it's OK to murder people"
(??!!)
I wonder what conversations these boys are listening too.

Hunter constantly expresses the wish that a nine year old boy could vote.(He changes his mind daily.) I've tried to tell him that the reason he can't is because nine year old boys believe ridiculous rumors. (I know, some adults out there believe some of the comments I just posted!)

So, I went to check his email today and I was surprised to see he has been registering at different political websites. (Why am I surprised? He never stops talking about it.) He was on newsmax.com taking a survey for who he is going to vote for president. Is this where they are getting their poll numbers? Nine year olds are just logging on and willy nilly voting for whoever they like at the moment. He has also been registering for free political t-shirts among other things. I don't think, when I was his age, that I really cared who was president! Then, the picture of Alex Keaton from "Family Ties" appeared in my head.

I think........ I'm raising a politician.

Swim Team

The boys did swim team again this year. Noah was old enough to do it too. You have to be five. They had so much fun and it was great for me to see how much they have improved. Because of swim team, we have a greater appreciation for the swimmers at the Olympics. The boys have had a great time watching those swimmers and seeing the different strokes that they have learned how to do themselves. I am really glad that my boys have had the opportunity to be in a sport that is a team sport but is also an individual sport as well.

Utah Trip

We went to Utah for two weeks. Our family did so much stuff there. We mostly went to baptize Hayden and to visit. We did tons of stuff with all of our family and friends like: the zoo, swimming, Lagoon, Stadium of Fire, the parade, Sleep overs, picnics and lots of fireworks. The kids had so much fun playing with all their cousins and some friends from our old neighborhood. Ryan and I did get away one night to go to Park City. We went and did the Alpine slide and coaster by ourselves. It was a nice break for us. Well, I think our kids had a little too much fun because on our way home Hunter and Hayden asked why we couldn't move back to Utah. They thought it was so much fun there. I tried to explain to them that if we lived there we wouldn't do all the stuff we did like that everyday. I know they miss their family and friends. Then Hunter demanded to know one GOOD reason why we should live in NC. I reminded him that his dad doesn't travel near as much as he used to and that is why we moved to NC. He just replied "Oh, I forgot." There was no more arguing. So, we all miss Utah but, we have more family time living NC. And if we moved from here we would miss all our new family and friends too.

Build A Bear

It is one of my mom's traditions that when a grandchild turns 3 she takes them to Build A Bear. Well, Colin isn't 3 yet but my mom wasn't sure if she would see him when he turned 3. So, she took him while we were in Utah. He picked out a dog and named him Jazzy. He had a lot of fun with Grandma.

Hayden is Eight

We were able to go to Utah to baptize Hayden in June. I made a DVD of Hayden growing up to show between his baptism and confirmation. Here are just the highlights of his life. We are so proud of him for making the choice to get baptized.

Big Band Aid

So I have to post something that is so funny to me and just shows what my life is like being surrounded by boys. Colin keeps getting into my bottom drawer and getting out pads. I don't know why I still have them, they are from when I had Colin. Each one of my boys has asked me why I have such big Band Aids. I have thought how do I explain this to them. I don't want them to know the dirty truth yet. Then I got thinking about it and they are big Band Aids. So that is what I told them. They haven't asked yet what I would need such a big Band Aid for. Hopefully, if I throw them all away, they won't ever ask.
